Peter Gronquist

Peter Gronquist is a multidisciplinary artist based in Portland, Oregon. Gronquist’s practice incorporates painting, sculpture and installation, utilising mediums such as aluminium, ceramic, and mirrors as well as the environment itself.
Gronquist's exhibition was an eye opener for me.
Although his work is captivating and emphasises the importance of light art, it was eerily like the work I had been creating. I want to be able to develop my own narrative for my art and creative outlook without mimicking somebody else's art. I am more than aware that the art I create has somewhat been done before and maybe slightly differently but I am not to make replicas.
This inspires me to reconsider my intentional usage of light and to create artwork that has my own twist.
